Behind the Scenes: The Birth of Level 99

The idea for Level 99 started with a simple question:
“Isn’t it time we pushed our signature dual-layer structure to the next level?”

ToysHeart’s Seventeen Reality, a hugely popular single-layer sleeve, proved that hyper-realism could sell. But we always felt a little off — after all, Seventeen began as a dual-layer line. So we went back to basics and asked ourselves, “What if we could make a dual-layer experience like no other?”

Initial tests with varying softness levels didn’t impress us. Adding a hard, plastic-like core seemed like a bold idea—until we realized it was just too painful. It became clear: fun ideas don’t always make good products.

That’s when inspiration struck—during a random team conversation about sashimi. Someone noticed how the marbled layers of a yellowtail fillet resembled cross-sections of our test models. That moment of play sparked a serious breakthrough.

We reimagined the internal shape to naturally create both thick and thin areas. When tested, users felt like the sleeve was molding to their own shape, creating a personalized, evolving sensation. It wasn’t just different—it felt alive.

From this came the name:
Level 99 – Just One More Level to Max Out Your Pleasure.
It was the perfect fit.

Design & Concept

Once the name and feel were locked in, the entire team got fired up. The package design, the internal structure, and the marketing all came together smoothly.

Then someone realized—we’d released a Level 69 about 20 years ago.
A full upgrade, accidentally! It felt meant to be.

And for the illustration? We turned to none other than Sei Akatsuki, the artist behind our Seventeen Bordeaux packaging. Even though the concept wasn't directly tied, everyone internally voted for Akatsuki’s style. It was a nostalgic and symbolic choice—and they delivered, once again.
